Weekly Wrap up – March 26 – April 1

Happy Easter! I hope you’re all having a great weekend! It’s been a very busy yet relaxing few days. Kids were off school, my daughters friend came over for a sleepover, family dinners. It’s been a really good couple of days! But due to the busy schedule I haven’t read as much as I’ve wanted to. That’s ok though. Time with friends and family is worth it! And the downtime of the weekend was welcome after the chaos of the week days. This week was full of stress, appointments, anxiety, and more stress.

BOOKS I’VE READ THIS WEEK:

Down among the sticks and bones

DOWN AMONG THE STICKS AND BONES by Seanan Mcguire <—– (full review)

After finishing book one I was so excited to get to this one. It was a bit of a let down though. Don’t get me wrong – it was still good and I still enjoyed it, but it wasn’t as fast paced as the first. There was a lot of background information on the main characters and then when it got to where they went into their doorway it felt a little rushed. But I can’t wait for book 3!!

BOOKS I’M CURRENTLY READING:

Children of blood and bone

If it were up to me, I would go hide somewhere where no one could bother me and I would devour this whole book in one sitting. It’s just SOOOOOOO GOOD! How this is a debut novel is astounding. The writing is just incredible! The world, the characters, the magic and the history of the magic….. flawless. Truly flawless. I am in love!!!

OTHER BOOKISH NEWS:

TOP 5 TUESDAY:

This weeks topic – Top 5 Characters that would win the show Survivor – was possibly the most fun I’ve had making a list! I sat in front of my shelves for the longest time trying to figure out what skills they would use and if it could get them through the end. Some of the participants lists were downright hilarious and some of the lists got right into the details of the contestants! Great job on your posts everyone! This coming week will be our first of the April topics (which you can see HERE. Check it out if you’re interested in joining 🙂

THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT!!!

There aren’t enough thank you’s in the world right now. I was so overwhelmed by your support and kind words. Posting the story of my cancer and anxiety was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I didn’t do it for sympathy. In fact, this is the first time I’ve talked about my story!! I’m 100% the type of person that avoids talking about my cancer because I don’t want the sympathy, I don’t want to seem weak, and I don’t want to be the “debby downer”. I try to keep positive and move forward. I also don’t want to let it define me in any way because that would be letting it win – and I will NOT let that happen. But I’ve realized that by not talking about things, it’s not helping me. So being able to sit down and write out my story was a little therapeutic. I felt a little better after sharing and was so happy to see so many people appreciated the positive message in the end.

A little update on the situation – on Thursday I went to my ultrasound and, as it turns out, the ultrasound technician is a doctor who had thyroid cancer herself! She was so understanding and knew just what to look for. She said “I shouldn’t be sharing results with you but I wanted to tell you that it looks benign.” I cried right there. The anxiety had gotten so bad that the smallest glimmer of hope made me lose it. I have a doctors appointment on April 5th to go over the results and figure out a game plan. So I’ll update you all soon within the week. I’ve been trying to stay calm and focus on the positivity of the weekend. But it’s hard. I just want to know lol

SEASONAL FAVOURITES LIST – WINTER EDITION:

Doing this post was so much fun! My favourite part of the new year is when the top 10 lists start coming out. But I know that I myself end up having to take books off that list that I really wish I could talk about, just so that I can keep it to 10 books. So now, on a quarterly and seasonal basis, I will be doing a favourites list 🙂

Arrow

This week saw a lot of good and a lot of bad. I don’t really know where I am with my head or emotions right now. So I’ll just keep reading and just keep blogging 🙂 Hope you had an amazing week!

Until next time, happy reading!
