This tag was perfect timing! Along with my most recent changes in my bullet journal, I added a space to check off when I’ve cleaned a room in the house. I have a room assigned for every day and then I colour in the box when I’ve done it. This has helped me keep up on cleaning, while at the same time, motivating me to go through some things in the house. And now I have this book tag to take a look at my shelves and consider what needs to be read soon! I was tagged my Jillian at Jillian The Bookish Butterfly – if you aren’t following her yet – please do! Her blog is WONDERFUL!!
THE STRUGGLE OF GETTING STARTED: A BOOK OR SERIES YOU STRUGGLE TO BEGIN BECAUSE OF ITS SIZE
The Lightbringer series by Brent Weeks. So far there are 4 books out and a 5th is coming out this year. 5 books really isn’t all that bad BUT they’re all like 600-800 pages long! They’re huge! I pretty much know that I’ll love them but that’s a lot of pages!!!
CLEANING OUT THE CLOSET: A BOOK OR SERIES YOU WANT TO UNHAUL
This makes me so sad! This was one of my most anticipated of last year and it fell completely flat. Still one of the most unique premises I’ve heard of, but the execution didn’t live up to what it could have been. I know there’s no chance I’m going to read it again so I plan to unhaul it to the library so others can enjoy it.
OPENING WINDOWS AND LETTING FRESH AIR IN: A BOOK THAT WAS REFRESHING
Ever since I finished this one in the fall, I think about it at least once a week. Before this book, I hadn’t had the chance to read too many multigenerational novels and this one was just SO well done! My thoughts on the characters changed along with them; what was happening in their lives and the decisions they made that shaped them. It was just so good!!
WASHING OUT THE SHEETS: A BOOK WITH A SCENE YOU WISH YOU COULD REWRITE
I say nothing! But if you’ve read this book then you know……. Wahhhh!!!
THROWING OUT UNNECESSARY KNICKNACKS: A BOOK IN A SERIES YOU DIDN’T THINK WAS NECESSARY
I have a strange answer for this question. I’ve never read a book in a series that I didn’t think was necessary. I did, however, wish that things could have been condensed in a series. And that’s the case with The Raven Cycle quartet. I wish that this series was just a trilogy. I found my mind wandering quite a bit and wished that we could just get to the point sometimes! Information about what was really going on seemed to take forever to see the light of day.
POLISHING DOORKNOBS: A BOOK THAT HAD A CLEAN FINISH
I’ve struggled for days to answer this one. And I’ve come to the conclusion that I can’t answer it! Hear me out – Even when a book ends clean, I still wonder what happens to the characters afterwards. I still think many years into their futures and play out different scenarios, imagining different outcomes. Maybe I have a perpetual fan fiction mind? I really think I do!
REACHING TO DUST THE FAN: A BOOK THAT TRIED TOO HARD TO RELAY A CERTAIN MESSAGE
We get it – she wants to be a baker – she didn’t want to be a part of an arranged marriage – she wanted to be a baker – she wanted to have her own bakery…… it’s annoying isn’t it!? I know, some of you loved this book but it was SO repetitive and got on my last nerve! I LOVE Marissa Meyer but this one just wasn’t for me.
THE TIRING YET SATISFYING FINISH OF SPRING CLEANING: A BOOK SERIES THAT WAS TIRING BUT SATISFYING TO GET THROUGH
This series was so tiring but in the best way possible! There are quite a few reasons why I say this series was tiring. Firstly, in the literal sense! I got little to no sleep while reading this series because it sucked me in so completely that I would stay up super late to finish it. This series was also tiring because it made your head spin! No matter what you were doing in your life, you were thinking of the characters and the world. Most of all – it was SO EMOTIONALLY TIRING! This book took all of my emotions, threw them into a tornado, let them slam to the ground, stomped on them, then hugged them into the arms of a rainbow unicorn…… if you’ve read this series then you know what I mean!
Some of these were easy, but a few were wolves in sheep’s clothing. I thought the answers would be easy but then when it came time to picking a book it was hard!
