Weekly Wrap Up – Feb 26 – Mar 4

I’m going to tell you something I would rarely say – I’m quite proud of myself! The week didn’t start off that great. I was verging on falling down a depression hole. It had its claws on me and was ready to pull me into it’s dark depths. It’s been a LONG ASS TIME since I’ve struggled that hard. It was bad. I didn’t want to admit to myself or anyone else just how bad things were in my head. But it was bad. I’ve struggled with anxiety and my mental health for a very long time. Only over the last year have I really been able to move past my anxiety and take my life back. This week was a shining example of that. I decided that March first was the beginning of a new month and would be a symbol of the ending of the month from hell. I’m so happy that I’ve been able to overcome those emotions! It was so bad I wasn’t sure if I could do it. But every day there’s progress and every day it’s getting a little easier! Thanks for listening to me complain and deal with “life” during the month of February! I’m so thankful for this place and all of you! Fingers crossed it keeps going in a positive direction!

Intentionally long intro – time for me to shut up now and get on with the wrap up!

YIPEE! Starting the month off on a super positive note by finishing 2 books!!!!!! Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng was a book that I had been wanting to read for so long and kept putting it off. I was semi intrigued when it came to the plot but I had a few assumptions of how things would go…….. so I put it off for fear that I wouldn’t like it…….. and I was right to assume…….. it was ok, but I definitely don’t love it as much as everyone else seems to. Full review to come very soon!

Illuminae was a reread and, of course, it was amazing!!! Since it was a reread there won’t be a review. But I will say that if you haven’t read this series yet – DO IT! Succumb to the peer pressure!!! It’s so amazing! Obsidio is being released IN TWO DAYS!!!!!!!!!!! I preordered it in October and have been waiting patiently (lies!!) to see if my name makes it onto the casualty list…… I’ve never wanted so badly to be dead in space! To have my name printed in a book that literary god Jay Kristoff wrote…….. I might die from happiness!

Gemina! Which I need to reread very quickly so that I’m ready for Obsidio! Depending on when book 3 ships, I may choose to read another book along with this one. Not sure how things are going to go yet.

I read 5 books in February. I’m not mad at that number! But honestly it didn’t compare to the 12 books I read in January. I’ve been so stressed out in life outside of books and I can feel that stress seeping into my reading life. I WILL NOT LET A SLUMP HAPPEN! So what do I do? I attack! And this is happening in the form of a little reading motivation. I’ve seen some bullet journals featuring pages with a lovely graph of pages read. As much as I want to participate in reading challenges/Readathon’s, they’re for the most part unrealistic for my hectic life. So a little personal challenge is in order. I want to see how much of a graph of pages read I can fill in this month. How many lines will be more than half full. and how many books this will push me to finish in the end. I’m excited for this! Pictures to come at some point.

For the very last week in February, we talked about Bookish Pet Peeves and it was sooooo much fun! There were quite a few things that were mentioned that made me annoyed and had my skin crawling. And I was so glad that I wasn’t alone in some of my pet peeves. We start a whole new month with 4 brand new topics for March. Want to join? Check out the topics HERE! March 6th topic is Top 5 Authors I want to meet! I do have a doctors appointment in the morning of the 6th, so adding you all to the participants list will happen in the early afternoon  🙂

As always with the end of the month, I’ve posted my haul, wrap up and upcoming TBR. You can check those out here if you haven’t already 🙂

So that was my week and the beginning of a new month. I hope that I can put February and all of the chaos and awfulness behind me! I hope your March started off fantastic as well!!

Until next time, happy reading!

    1. Gemina was hard for me to get into just because there were none of the characters or story line of Illuminae. But as it went on it actually became me favourite of the two! I’m hope you end up loving it!

      1. Thank you! So would you say they could be read as stand alones?

        1. Definitely not. There’s so much that happens throughout the books that all connect and get explained. The main characters may be different in book 2 but it comes together in the end 🙂
