Anticipated releases – Jan & Feb 2018!

And, just like that, we’re into the books being released in 2018! And so far it looks like 2018 is going to be an amazing year – things are starting off with a bang with so many books being released at the beginning of the year! I hope that I get some gift cards for Christmas so I can keep up with some of the new releases!

Gunslinger Girl

GUNSLINGER GIRL – Published January 2

I actually have an ARC of this one and can’t wait to get to it soon!! It will be my first western and the main character sounds so bad ass! I will hopefully have the review up some time between Christmas and New Years 🙂

Seventeen-year-old Serendipity “Pity” Jones inherited two things from her mother: a pair of six shooters and perfect aim. She’s been offered a life of fame and fortune in Cessation, a glittering city where lawlessness is a way of life. But the price she pays for her freedom may be too great….
In this extraordinary debut from Lyndsay Ely, the West is once again wild after a Second Civil War fractures the U.S. into a broken, dangerous land. Pity’s struggle against the dark and twisted underbelly of a corrupt city will haunt you long after the final bullet is shot.

Saga Vol 8

SAGA VOLUME 8 – Published January 2

Oh another Saga! Volume 7 was far more emotional than I expected and I can’t speak highly enough about this graphic novel series! I love it SO much! I plan to do a reread of the whole series before I get to this one though 🙂

After the traumatic events of the War for Phang, Hazel, her parents, and their surviving companions embark on a life-changing adventure at the westernmost edge of the universe.

Unearthed

UNEARTHED  – Published January 9

This is another one that I was lucky enough to get an ARC of and I was so happy to get it that I did a dance in my kitchen! I absolutely adore the other books that these co authors have written so I have high hopes for this one. Also it deals with ancient temples and an alien race….. I’m all in!!!

When Earth intercepts a message from a long-extinct alien race, it seems like the solution the planet has been waiting for. The Undying’s advanced technology has the potential to undo environmental damage and turn lives around, and Gaia, their former home planet, is a treasure trove waiting to be uncovered.
For Jules Addison and his fellow scholars, the discovery of an alien culture offers unprecedented opportunity for study… as long as scavengers like Amelia Radcliffe don’t loot everything first. Mia and Jules’ different reasons for smuggling themselves onto Gaia put them immediately at odds, but after escaping a dangerous confrontation with other scavvers, they form a fragile alliance.
In order to penetrate the Undying temple and reach the tech and information hidden within, the two must decode the ancient race’s secrets and survive their traps. But the more they learn about the Undying, the more their presence in the temple seems to be part of a grand design that could spell the end of the human race…

The hazel wood

THE HAZEL WOOD  – published January 30

That cover!! Oh my goodness it’s beautiful! And it also sounds so amazing! Her grandmother wrote a cult classic book of fairy tales that comes with a true warning… immmm yes please!

Seventeen-year-old Alice and her mother have spent most of Alice’s life on the road, always a step ahead of the uncanny bad luck biting at their heels. But when Alice’s grandmother, the reclusive author of a cult-classic book of pitch-dark fairy tales, dies alone on her estate, the Hazel Wood, Alice learns how bad her luck can really get: Her mother is stolen away―by a figure who claims to come from the Hinterland, the cruel supernatural world where her grandmother’s stories are set. Alice’s only lead is the message her mother left behind: “Stay away from the Hazel Wood.”
Alice has long steered clear of her grandmother’s cultish fans. But now she has no choice but to ally with classmate Ellery Finch, a Hinterland superfan who may have his own reasons for wanting to help her. To retrieve her mother, Alice must venture first to the Hazel Wood, then into the world where her grandmother’s tales began―and where she might find out how her own story went so wrong.

Honor among thieves

HONOR AMONG THIEVES – published February 13

If you’ve been on my blog at all this year then you’ll know how obsessed i’ve become with anything science fiction. So this one was pretty much guaranteed to be on my list!

Petty criminal Zara Cole has a painful past that’s made her stronger than most, which is why she chose life in New Detroit instead moving with her family to Mars. In her eyes, living inside a dome isn’t much better than a prison cell.
Still, when Zara commits a crime that has her running scared, jail might be exactly where she’s headed. Instead Zara is recruited into the Honors, an elite team of humans selected by the Leviathan—a race of sentient alien ships—to explore the outer reaches of the universe as their passengers.
Zara seizes the chance to flee Earth’s dangers, but when she meets Nadim, the alien ship she’s assigned, Zara starts to feel at home for the first time. But nothing could have prepared her for the dark, ominous truths that lurk behind the alluring glitter of starlight.

Arrow

Those are the books that I can’t wait for in January and February. As always, I bet that I’m forgetting some! I’ve already had a sneak peek of some of the books on my wish list that are being released in March and the list is growing long! Could be a big month!

What books are you anticipating for the first 2 months of the year? I’d love to know!

Until next time, happy reading!

    Hello Shanah!
Thank you for sharing this list! Gunslinger Girl sounds like such an interesting novel (I believe there is a Japanese manga by the same name but I think they are unrelated?!) Looking forward to hearing your thoughts about this book 🙂
