Weekly Wrap Up – December 3 – 9

Time is going by way too fast! It’s all starting to just blur together and the beginnings of weeks feel like they happened a few weeks ago….. December is by far the fastest month of the year! I’m still not ready for Christmas yet and I think the stress is really starting to get to me 😦 Anyways, here’s what happened on the blog this week!

BOOKS I’VE FINISHED THIS WEEK:

Black Moon

BLACK MOON by Romina Russell <—– full review
I am absolute trash for this series!! It’s just so complex and amazing! There’s only one book left in this series (Thirteen Rising) and I’m not sure I’m ready for it to be over. If the third book is the only thing I get for Christmas this year I will be SO happy! I need to know how this ends!!

BOOKS I’M CURRENTLY READING:

The Bear and the Nightingale is truly unique! I’ve heard nothing but good things about it and knew it would be a great winter/snowy read. It’s so beautifully written and theres so much atmosphere. But I have to say that it’s taking me FOREVER to read it. First of all the writing is so descriptive and beautiful that it’s causing me to slow down and take it all in. There’s also quite a bit of politics between royal families, marriages, a magical ability, religion, and more. I keep stopping to do a bit of a mental catalogue of how all of these things intersect. It’s not confusing at all but theres just so much. It’s also not a very fast paced book. It’s safe to say that certain elements are causing me to struggle a bit, but at the same time I’m really loving it! I do feel like I need to break it up a bit in order to keep myself invested. So I picked up Tower of Dawn last night and plan to alternate the two until they’re completed. That way I have beauty mixed with action, folklore mixed with fantasy. I rarely read two books at the same time so we will see how this goes!

OTHER BOOKISH NEWS:

TOP 5 TUESDAY

This weeks topic was Top 5 Cozy Winter Reads and let me tell you, if you’re looking for a great read this winter then just check out the participants lists! I got quite a few recommendations! The two most popular choices were Harry Potter and The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. But I am SOOOO excited about next weeks topic – the top 5 (or 10!) new to me authors in 2017! The list is long people!

BACK TO 2 OF MY FAVOURITE FEATURES!!

Over the last few weeks I’ve had too many other things to post so I haven’t been able to get to my two favourite features. Those are: If you like this then….. AND Blogger Spotlight. These are the two features I struggle to find the time to get to consistently but they’re the ones I have the most fun posting and interacting in the comments!

BOOK TAG!

That’s right, I actually did a book tag! I know they’re rare, but this one was a really fun one to do. It was My name in TBR books. Thankfully my name is only 6 letters long because trying to find books with certain letters is hard! Especially finding books that start with that letter directly and not with A or THE.

BULLET JOURNAL

This week I showed the pages that are going to end this year and start the next. You can find that here. There was mainly blogging pages instead of personal as I don’ track many personal things on a larger scale. Next week I’ll be posting my January pages so if you’re planning to get started on your own journal, you can get some inspiration to start the year fresh!

Arrow

So that was my week! It was a very busy week for the blog that’s for sure! I’m so excited for the end of the year posts coming soon! But you’ll have to wait and see whats in store 🙂 Hope you all had a great weekend!

Until next time, happy reading!

You had a great week Shanah! Sorry for posting my top 5 on Wednesday…It’s quite hectic with the kids exams, Christmas to prepare, work etc. As I said on Twitter I’m curious to read your thoughts about the absolute necessity or not to read it to keep up with the series.

    1. Audiobooks are insanely priced. I usually just borrow but it would be nice to own one some day 😂

I pretty much always do as well, but my state’s online library doesn’t own any of the SJM books in audio form. Occasionally I find audible is doing a deal where a month is $1 or $5, usually for three straight months until it goes up to $15, so I have a few audiobooks from that.

        1. I should keep an eye out for that as well. I’ve wanted to listen to anything by Sarah J Maas and also the illuminae series. My library system rarely has good audiobooks and doesn’t have any of those. Thanks for mentioning it!
