Top 5 Cozy Winter reads!

I’ve lived in Canada my entire life so I should be used to the snow. I am, but I don’t have to like it! When I think of snow I think of the mess, the shovelling, and soaked pants. About the only thing I do like about it is that it forces me to stay inside and read more! It can also be atmospheric while reading 🙂 Ok, I guess snowball fights and sledding is kind of fun too……. but, once again, soaked pants! LOL! Here are the 5 books that I think are perfect for a cozy winter read!

I guess I’m starting this off with a weird one. This whole list may be weird to be honest. This isn’t really in a winter setting (the seasons change) but there’s just something about it that I love about reading this series in the winter time. There’s magic, whimsy, action, friendships, romantic relationships, and even an underlying darkness. I couldn’t imagine reading this one in the summer time. It just fits with the snow and chilly wind for some reason!

I’ve only read a few chapters of this one, but it SCREAMS winter! Just look at that cover! It even starts off on a snowy night as a tale is being told around the fire. I don’t have a fireplace, but if I did then that’s precisely where I would be sitting while reading this book. The atmosphere and general feel of this book begs to be read on a snowy winters night.

Yes, I know, I’m like a broke record that repeats this series as often as I can. But you have to admit that this series is best read (and watched!) in the winter time. I don’t know what it is but, for some reason, winter just seems to be the best time to read all things magical. One of my goals for 2018 is to reread the Harry Potter series and I’ll be starting and ending in the winter!

I’m not the biggest Nora Roberts fan in the world, but I love a good romance every once in a while. I specifically enjoy her paranormal trilogies (once again, the theme of fantastical and magical elements) in the winter time.

You’re looking at me weird for putting this on a “cozy” list aren’t you? I bet you are. No, the subject matter is most definitely not cozy at times, but there’s something so heartwarming about it at the same time. The setting, the relationships, the innocence, the heart break, the struggles – everything. I tried reading this one in the summer time and set it aside, knowing that I would appreciate it more in the winter. It was a good choice for me!

This one was a little difficult for me and pushed me a bit out of my comfort zone. I don’t read many books set in winter, or any books that can be deemed holiday themed, so I had to go for the books that have a certain feel to them. The general consensus is that books with fantastical and magical elements are the ones to go to! I hope you enjoyed this list! What books would you recommend for a cozy winter read??
