November Book Haul

I’m so proud of myself!!! With Christmas coming I managed to calm my book buying down quite a bit and only picked up 2 books this month! Even better, I didn’t pay full price for either of them! I had bought a few Christmas gifts at Chapters Indigo and they gave me a 10$ coupon that was valid on any purchase!! I couldn’t waste that coupon – I mean, I’m not a monster lol. So I picked up these two for less than 30$

Renegades was one of my most anticipated reads this year so of course I had to pick it up. Sadly it missed the mark with a few things (see full review here) but I still really enjoyed it. It also made me want to run around wearing a cape and mask all day so, there’s that!

The Bear and the Nightingale is one that I’ve wanted for the LONGEST time! I remembered seeing the cover in the book store when it was first released and being obsessed with it. The hardcover was close to 40$ so I decided to wait until the paperback was released. It finally came out but then it was still quite expensive for its size, so I waited yet again. I’ve heard nothing but high praise for this one and I have a feeling it will be worth the wait. This one should be a great read for a nice snowy winter night.

That’s it! That’s all I got! But maybe this is a good thing. I’m giving you a bit of a break before I slam you all with a MASSIVE book haul in December. My mother in law decided that she won’t be doing gift cards this year and will only be giving us things that she can wrap physically. I have NO IDEA what to ask for! I don’t have any hobbies besides books so that’s pretty much the only thing I’m asking for. I’m also hoping that she counts a Fairyloot subscription as a physical thing because THAT would be amazing!!!

Until next time, happy reading!

Congrats on only buying two books. This must be a very proud moment for you. And I hope that you get your books and subscription. And seeing The Bear and the Nightingale just makes me want to snuggle up in my bed and devour the whole book.

…I wish I could say the same hahaha I’ve been buying books non-stop since last month. And Christmas is coming up… SEND HELP!!
I’m really curious about Renegades, people have been raving about it for a while!

    1. I won’t send help as I don’t see this as a problem! I am possibly one of the worst enablers ever! When people say they’re going on a book buying ban I’m like “but why when you can buy ALL the books!?”
      😂

  5. The Bear and the Nightingale is my December book for both my real life book club and my GR group. Love it when it works out like that! (I’ve also been very good about not buying myself books since it’s so close to Christmas. Mostly because my best friend threatens bodily harm if I do. lol.)

    1. Lol friends are usually good for threatening bodily harm. My mom was talking about ordering a book and I had to yell at her because I bought her 3 and they were all the ones she wanted to order!

      1. That always sucks when that happens lol.

Oh my gosh, that would be amazing! I put a couple different book subscription boxes on my list because my parents like to be able to still surprise me. I know my mom already got one, but it’s probably not Fairyloot since I think you have to go on the specific day they release the boxes to sign up (I’m guessing if you’re a new subscriber?) Either way, yay for a ton of books being on the christmas list!!

    1. Pretty much the only thing on my Christmas list besides books is Fairyloot but I’m so afraid that they will be sold out and she won’t be able to sign me up! 😭 your mom seems to be great at picking things for you so I can’t wait to see what you get for Christmas!!

Oh yeah, I’m not worried 😁 I have a lot of Harry Potter stuff on my list though like a wand stand so I can display my wand on my bookshelf and the Illustrated Edition of Fantastic Beasts. I’ve probably got HP on the brain (more than usual) because I’ve started planning all my decor/craft DIY’s so that it can be a very harry Christmas!

You should! I’m basically just buying some supplies and making my own decorations, so it shouldn’t cost too much. If you have random keys you could make the flying keys, tea stain some envelopes and make them into Hogwarts letters (extra awesome if you have a wax seal or can just melt some wax and press any design into it), with gold ornaments you can make snitches, you can make a cute wreath with a little white owl in it, a clear ornament with red ribbon or tulle in it and some washi tape could be a rememberall, etc.

          2. Amazing ideas!! I might have to set my kids loose with some of these! I have a 3 foot Christmas tree that would be perfect for this!
