Weekly Wrap Up – Nov 19 – 25

Have you ever had one of those weeks were you don’t remember what happened once it’s over? That’s me right now. I kept getting my days mixed up, parent teacher interviews, chiropractor appointments, and my kids had no school on Friday…… basically I was a scatterbrain! But in my bookish life things were pretty good! I finished one (very large) book and have gotten through half of another. Here’s what I read:

RENEGADES by Marissa Meyer <—– (Full review) 3.5 stars
This is the first book that has ever made me say that I love Super Hero’s! The super hero’s was the element of the book that I was most unsure about and it ended up being the one thing that I loved the most. I did have a few issues with it, specifically related to pace and balance between plot and world/character building, but all in all I really enjoyed this one!

Wandering Star

I’m FINALLY getting back to the Zodiac series!!!! I finished book one a couple of months ago but for some reason didn’t continue. It took quite a few pages to get back into the story though because it’s so complicated and I hadn’t really remembered how things ended. But things picked up quickly and I loved getting back into this world with all of its political intrigue and zodiac systems.

This weeks topic was the top 5 reasons why I blog – not entirely bookish subject but something we can all relate to. It was nice to kind of go back to my roots and remember why I started this all in the first place. Next weeks topic is the Top 5 books/series that need a spinoff! The list is long people!

Not only did I do a TAG but I did a discussion, AND they happened in the same week! I rarely do either so for them to happen in the same week is unheard of! At the beginning of the week I did the end of the year book tag and then towards the end of the week I talked about reading reviews before you buy a book. See what I mean – it’s been a weird week!

This is something that’s been on my mind a lot lately. I don’t have blogger burn out or anything, but Christmas is coming! The closer it gets, the busier I seem to be. I’m having a hard time balancing life, responding to comments, writing and more. I haven’t decided how I’m going to do this yet though. To you bloggers out there, what have you done in the past? I can’t decide if I want to take time off and not blog at all or just cut it down to a few times a week. This is my first experience with blogging in December so any advice of what you have done in the past, what works for you and what doesn’t, would be greatly appreciated!!! THOUGH – I’m seeing a lot on Twitter about “Blogmas” – what is this?? Can someone fill me in? Is this just a “post every day up until Christmas” thing like on YouTube? I can’t figure it out lol!

Wow! I’ve done a couple giveaways this year and they had a good turn out, but nothing like this! I just wanted to extend a huge thank you to all of my followers for getting to this point! The winners were chosen, and both have picked out their books (both of which ended up choosing books that I’ve had on my wish list for a while personally lol) Congrats to Ilsa and Kristi! Enjoy 🙂

So that was my week. A little weird and a little all over the place. How was your week? Did you read anything you want to rave about? Have any suggestions for a Christmas hiatus? I’m all ears bookworms!

Until next time, happy reading!

  2. I have started Renegades BUT IT IS SO INCREDIBLY SLOW FOR ME! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Normally Meyer’s books are quite fast paced but this is taking me AGES to get through. However that might be my reading slump, oops. Looks like you had a crazy but exciting week! And yes, take a Hiatus if you need it! We’ll all still be here when you get back.

    1. Renegades was WAY slower paced than her other books! That’s why I ended up only giving it 3.5 Stars. I hope it picks up for you in the end!

  4. I think taking a Christmas blogging break is probably a good idea especially if you’ve got lots of family stuff coming up. I was around last year and I’m pretty sure the blogosphere was fairly quiet.

    1. Good to know. I know I’m taking some time away from blogging the days after Christmas. I’ll be busy setting up toys and playing with the kids. I can’t wait!!

Hey Shanah, you’re right my life is messed up right now as well. I have homework to do, have to write blogs and I can’t find time for reading so yeah life’s perfect. And you got it right, Blogmas is blogging everyday till Christmas.

Well I took a hiatus on Juky as I was three weeks abroad. I did not post anything (I had planned and prepared posts before) but just followed other blogs the best I could. It helped as I got some perspective and new ideas so a break is not a bad idea.
I have difficulties to follow all the blogs I love daily as I’m back at work and the traffic on the rail is awful (Thursday I had 5 hours travel total that day so 5 hours I can’t do anything for the blog. What I do is take it easy 3 days a week and catch up the other days.

    1. I’m still struggling with following others and the time management to be able to do so. The only available time I have lately I’m spending mostly responding to comments on here and it doesn’t leave me much time to blog hop. I still feel massive amounts of guilt but I’ve got way too much on the go 😢 I feel your pain!

Well Shanah in the grand scheme of life it’s not really important or dramatic isn’t it? I’ve watched kids being sold to be raped in Birmania on the TV today and well… let’s just say that our problems are menials compared to them. Sorry my mom’s heart is still bleeding! End of the pity party I swear! ❤

I have taken a few hiatuses before, ones where I didn’t post at all (mostly when I am traveling and don’t have means and don’t want to bother with blogging at all) and others where I just cut down on posting and blog-hopping (mostly when, well… I just need a break ahah). I don’t usually cut down on blogging in December, since it’s not a very busy period for me, so I can’t really “help” you on that part. I know that blogging and everything isn’t that busy for me so I know how to juggle everything out. That being said, maybeeee I can still share my thoughts on hiatuses and such 🙂
I am guessing it really depends on how busy you are.
Cutting down on posting, just, for instance, posting once or twice a week, already takes a load off your shoulders that’s for sure. And nobody will ever be mad if you are a bit late at commenting and commenting back. It’s Christmas, most people -except me, I guess ahahah- have to be busy 🙂
If you’ve never really taken an hiatus, leaving it all of a sudden can be a bit daunting. I can only advice to maybe try and start things slow, just post a little less or spend a little less time on your blog, and even if that is too much, try and take a real break? 🙂
I’m sorry I am so ranting ahah I hope this helps. Wishing you a lovely week! xx

    1. This is all very helpful. I’ve tried to cut down before, which for me usually means just cutting out a Saturday here and there. I’m hoping that I can spend a few days and have most of December written and scheduled. If I can do that then it won’t be so bad. I am taking some time after Christmas though where I won’t be posting or answering comments. Time will tell. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this though – it really helps!

You’re welcome, I’m glad if this could help 🙂 Even if you’re just cutting down on a day here and there, it can already be a relief 🙂

    1. OMG YES!!!!! I finished it last night and just wrote the review. My main problem with this book is the love triangle. And its because I sailed the Hysan ship SO HARD that I want nothing to do with Mathias!!!
