The End Of The Year Book Tag!

Well, since the year is almost over, I figured that I might as well surprise everyone and do another tag! As soon as I was tagged by Priyasha at Books and Co I was so excited to do this tag! Usually my tagged stuff sits for months but not this one! These topics had been on my mind a lot so it was perfect timing! So here it goes!

ARE THERE ANY BOOKS YOU STARTED THIS YEAR THAT YOU NEED TO FINISH?

Well, we’re starting off with a whopper of a question that is already riddling me with guilt! There are a few that I was in the middle of that I put down because I wasn’t in the right mood for them and never picked them up again. These are all the ones I hope to finish:

Wise Mans Fear is one that I started in January. I got half way through and stopped because the release of book 3 is nowhere in sight and I’m so afraid of forgetting what happened in this series before it’s released. I might finish it in December but I may wait.

Promise of Blood is one that I started shortly after finishing Sins of Empire. This series takes place BEFORE Sins, and it was wonderful to jump into it as a prequel. I ended up in an awful fantasy slump so I stopped but will pick it up again in 2018.

Tower of Dawn wasn’t the best start to a SJM novel ever. I tried so hard but couldn’t get into this one. The introduction of a large number of new characters was confusing to me and had an all together different feel from the rest of the TOG novels. But I’ve been assured by literally everyone that once you get past the beginning it’s the most satisfying book! So this one will be finished before the end of the year!

DO YOU HAVE AN AUTUMNAL BOOK TO TRANSITION INTO THE END OF THE YEAR?

all the light we cannot see

Not one specific book just yet. But I do have a genre that transitions me into my winter reading and that’s historical fiction. I LOVE historical fiction but usually only pick them up in the winter time. All The Light We Cannot See is one of the books I’m very excited to get to this winter!

IS THERE A NEW RELEASE YOU’RE STILL WAITING FOR?

Nope! I believe that I’m all caught up for the year. Of course there are a ton of books I still want, but there are no newer released for the rest of the year.

WHAT ARE THREE BOOKS YOU WANT TO READ BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR?

Wandering Star is the sequel of Zodiac by Romina Russell and I’ve been needing to get to it for a while. The Unseen World is a somewhat recent purchase that has come highly recommended by a friend. And The Bear and the Nightingale is one that practically everyone in the book community has screamed at me to read. These I’m so excited for!

IS THERE A BOOK YOU THINK COULD STILL SHOCK YOU AND BECOME YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK OF THE YEAR?

I already have a feeling that I’m going to LOVE The Bear and the Nightingale to pieces – but that one won’t be a shock. The premise and plot is something I’m really excited for. But Tower of Dawn would shock me. Especially after reading over 100 pages and still not being into it. If this one ends up as a 5 star it will shock me for sure!

HAVE YOU ALREADY STARTED MAKING READING PLANS FOR 2018?

ABSOLUTELY!! It’s all i’ve been able to think about lately. I’m so ready to wrap up 2017 and move on to next year. I have BIG things planned for next year and hope I’ll be able to reach my goals…… but they’re quite ambitious so….. I might be setting myself up for failure…… I hope not!

Arrow

So what about you? Are there any books you need to finish or get to before the end of the year? Are you already planning for 2018? I’d love to know!

Until next time, happy reading!

I love reading historical fiction too! I don’t quite know what it is but it’s definitely a genre I start settling into as the days grow colder and winter rolls in.
I also can’t wait for you to read The Bear and The Nightingale! I’m curious to read what you think (I’ve been on the fence about buying it ever since it came out lol I always add it to my stack when I’m browsing in the bookstore but end up putting it back before I check out!)

    1. I only picked up Bear and the Nightengale this month after being told by practically everyone that it’s amazing. I kept looking at it in the book store and thinking that I didn’t want to spend the money until I was sure. I listened to the first few chapters on audiobook in October and it definitely seems like something that I’ll love!! I will hopefully have a review up soon so you can decide if you want to pick it up 🙂

I don’t think I have any books I want to read before the end of the year. I’d like to dwindle my Goodreads TBR down but I’m not worried if I don’t. In December, I’m just going to read whatever and whenever I can as it’s going to be a busy month.

I am already planning for 2018 and I think I’m going to try to make a post about both my reading, writing and life goals. I’ll see if I actually decide to write that post 😛

  8. I am surprised by how much I’ve been enjoying historical fiction. Although I’m a little fussy about the time period and place.

    1. Historical fiction is one of my absolute favourites! But it has to be written like a story and not too factual. Then I get bored 😂
