Bookish Bullet Journal – November & December

It’s been a full month since I started the new and improved bullet journal and holy crap! What a life changer! Combining bookish/blogging things along with my daily life has made me an actual real productive person! I find that it’s easier to manage everything when it’s together. I’m able to keep things straight, prioritize, and I’m no longer wandering around trying to remember what I had to do and when I had to do it. Last month (Check out my October bullet journal pages here) I was able to see what worked for me and what didn’t. So over the next few months I hope to try some new things and see how they work. I combined November and December in this one and then in the middle of December I plan on featuring things you would include in your journals at the beginning of the year. That way if you’re planning on starting fresh, you can follow along with me! So, here’s what November and December look like!

bujo 7

This entire spread is new and i’m so happy with the way it turned out! I was a little iffy about using a whole page just for a title for the month, but it’s one of my favourite pages now! The meals page is new and very helpful so far. I use small post it notes for each day and write down ideas for things I can make that week. That way it’s not set in stone and if I need to change something, all I have to do is move the post it note to another day. I also like being able to keep track of what we’ve had. It gives me ideas of what we haven’t had in a while and how many times we’ve eaten out. I didn’t start the month off good because I was so sick though 😦

bujo 8

This is a spread that I kept the same from last month. I like being able to see personal and blogging things side by side. The tracker is helpful but I want to maybe change it up in the future. I also like the ‘remember this’ space but, I honestly had that space filled up the very next day so now I have to go the whole month with no space to fill in. I know I’ll be changing that in the future but I just don’t know how yet.

Here are two examples of my daily tasks pages. The one on the left is from November and the one on the right is from December. This layout seems to be working VERY well for me but I think that in January I may make some minor changes to it. I don’t use the “next week” spot at all really and the “to do” spot is too large and I never really fill it. So January will be the month of changes I think.

bujo 10

Yes, this is a repeat of the same layout in November, but this one is just so pretty so I had to include a picture of it here!

bujo 12

Lastly, this one I gave a bit of an overhaul, but didn’t change too much from October. I just cleaned it up a little bit. I’m still not happy with the “This month I read” page but I can’t figure out how to alter it yet. It will work for now.

So that’s what November and December looks like for the most part. I’m starting to really see what works and what doesn’t. I just finished all the pages for the end of the year and the beginning of the year set up and I’m sooooo excited to share them with you! ** probably mid December** I have a feeling that some big changes will be happening in January once I figure out the changes that need to be made. I heard from so many people last month that this helped them figure out how to incorporate this into their lives as well so I’m glad this post is helping!

Until next time, happy reading!

  1. oh i love your bullet journal posts! i actually copied a little bit of your weekly layout and it works so much better for me now! so thank you for sharing! 🙂
i wonder how much time you put into it? i would love to do more with my bullet journal but it already takes up quite some time. how is your process? and are you listening to audiobooks while preparing the pages? i would love to know more about your process if you don’t mind sharing! 🙂

    1. I’m not going to lie – it takes me a while. Not the actual drawing lines of the layouts but the colouring. If I used markers it wouldn’t take so long but I use coloured pencils and I’m a perfectionist 😂 each spread takes me about 10-40 minutes depending on what the page is. But yes I totally listen to audiobooks while doing it! I’m not willing to sacrifice reading time! It does get easier the more you do it though. The more often you do the pages, the more you get used to it and it takes less time. So keep at it and it will get easier!

I also usually prep one month ahead. I tried to just do the pages as I went so I wasn’t so overwhelmed but I found that I had things to schedule and nowhere to write them. It’s a lot at first but then you’re ahead of the game

I will probably be doing a post all about the process shortly as I’ve had a few people ask. I’m so happy that the weekly layout is working for you! The girl I took the layout from is also a book blogger and I saw it in her post (the link is in the October bujo post) when I do the bullet journal process post I’ll be sure to tag you!

      1. wow thanks so much for this answer! so cool!! 🤗
i also listen to audiobooks while doing my month, i do it one time for the whole month. but it still takes some time. if i would do quotes and coloring and drawing (which i can’t do at all btw 😂) it would take me so much longer and i don’t know if i have the patience for it! but it looks so much better. i’ll have to think of something!

i’m really looking forward to the process post! i’m eager to learn haha 😂 thanks so much! 💕

I’ve ended up combining my bujo with my bojo, because it took a loooot of time to write two monthly spreads😅.

    1. There are so many ideas out there for more simplistic layouts that don’t require a lot of time and effort. People have done wonders with a black/blue pen and a set of crayola super tip markers!

I love your bullet journal pages, especially you’re December page! They’re so much more artistic than mine. I’ve never been able to fit a whole week on one page so I just do my daily lists on multiple pages.

    1. Thanks! The daily/weekly layouts are the hardest. Some people can fit a whole week on one page while others use a whole page for just one day. It’s all in what works for you 🙂

I am so, so impressed and IN LOVE with your bullet journal, it looks amazing. I love the quotes and letterings you do, you have so much talent and patience, I’m impressed. I still haven’t started a bullet journal myself, I’m just.. well, I don’t let myself have the time and take the time to really try and do it and… I will never make it so pretty, I lack talent hahaha. I love love love this post ❤

Lovely! I just started mine this month and it’s brilliant! I am finding I had done spreads I did not use, so for December I will be making it all a bit simpler. I am still finding out what works. I like you’re weekly lay-out, by the way!

  13. You’re pages are beautiful Shanah!! I don’t do weekly tracking in my bullet journal anymore as it was stressing me out, lol… but I love it to hold ideas all together for different kinds of posts… and i actually do a daily time tracker which helps me immensely to see where I’m wasting time. This is quite lovely though!! You are tempting me to go back to it… And your coloring is the BEST!! ❤

    1. Thanks! I’ve actually considered doing daily time tracking but I know it would make my OCD go into overdrive 😂 but I’ve seen some daily time bullet layouts and it makes me drool and wonder if it would be helpful

      1. I can see where daily would give you hives.. your pages are so beautiful and I KNOW that means time… it takes me a half hour to fill out my time diagram and write my journal entry and about 5 or 6 minutes to set up the next days… maybe 10 if I’m pondering what needs doing for my priority list. ♥️ Anyway love the post Shanah!

Ahhhh your bullet journal spreads look soooo gorgeous 😍 I’ve always wanted to try my hand at bullet journaling but I still want to practice sketching and handlettering some more before I actually commit to it! Maybe I’ll start one for the new year! I’ll definitely take some inspiration from your beautiful pages :’) thanks for sharing!

    OMG you’re amazing.

I keep going back and forth on bullet journalling because I want it PRETTY but also, yup, I run out of space/patience/time. I was doing it in a daily manner though and yours is a gorgeous monthly template! YES YES YES. I may steal this for next year. Because even though I’m not keeping a bujo atm, I’m keeps too many Post Its that are basically doing the same thing. XD

What journal do you use? This looks like one of the Moleskine grid pattern ones, am I way off?
