The Hocus Pocus Book Tag!

I was tagged by two people in one day for this one so I think I HAD to do it! Thanks to Rebecca at My Life As A Sports Fangirl and Lilly at Lair Of Books for tagging me! Also a big thanks to Never Not Reading for creating the tag and Flavia at Flavia The Bibliophile for her great graphic! Let’s get to it!

Sorry but I have to go with the obvious for this one. There are a few that I would have put in place of this one but they were a series that was longer than just three. This trilogy is quite amazing though!! Book two is hands down my favourite of the series!!!

WINIFRED SANDERSON – A book with a truly evil female villain

HP and the philosophers stone

Female villains are hard to come by! Almost impossible really. But even if there were 100 to choose from they probably still wouldn’t top Delores Umbridge!! She’s just disgusting, evil, and awful

SARAH SANDERSON – A book that uncannily attracts children

Hmmmmmm Ok I’m having a really hard time with this one. The obvious answer is Harry Potter, but other than that I haven’t read anything that children would read.

MARY SANDERSON – A book that is just plain silly

The girl who fairyland

The book and the story itself wasn’t silly, but the “characters” and the world were! No one was human. Instead we had lions, mermaids, clocks, plants and more as the characters. The world itself was silly and weird too! If I was to explain this it would be like a modern version of Alice in Wonderland!

MAX – A book that’s trying really hard to be cool, but doesn’t always succeed

Lady Midnight

Sorry but this one didn’t succeed at all. To me it felt like a forced attempt to continue a series that did work where the author used annoying tropes then tried to throw in every bit of diversity available to appease the masses. Not a fan! But her other two series were just great!!

DANI – A book that isn’t afraid to tell it like it is

This was such a hard read. I cried more times than I have fingers on one hand and it was just painful to read. But it was so awfully true and that’s why it was hard. Nothing about the time period was easy and this book definitely gave a first hand account to it all.

BINX –  A book series that just won’t die

Tower of dawn

HEAR ME OUT! Don’t murder me – just listen! I love this series! But we have 6 full length novels published in the Throne of Glass series AND one novella bind up…. I’m ready for the conclusion now… this has gone on long enough

ICE – A book with a character that’s as dumb as a rock

Nothing. I’ve got nothing. Why is it so hard to think of characters when doing a book tag – THE PRESSURE I TELL YOU!

THE BLACK FLAME CANDLE – A book or series you wish you could resurrect

I need to know what happened after the tea!! LOL! If you’ve read the ending then you’ll know what I mean. I loved these characters so much and I loved the world and it’s time travelling abilities. I could use another book telling me what they did and where (and when!) they went after.

HEADLESS BILLY BUTCHERSON – A book that’s not so bad as people make it out to be.

Nora Roberts 2

I’m going to mention Nora Roberts here. I would have to agree that yes, her books seem to follow a clear cut formula in their plots and outlines, but they’re still good books. Her character building is where she shines and her ability to invoke emotions and make connections is really wonderful!

WINIFRED SANDERSONS SPELL BOOK – A book with a mind of its own

No Clue! God I’m bad at these questions!

GARY MARSHALL – A book with a cameo

I DON’T KNOW! I’ve read lots of books where other books are mentioned but none where another character comes in……  I give up! lol

Well that was a disaster! Either I just can’t think of anything or I really haven’t read books that have things like those questions. I just gave up lol! I won’t be tagging anyone because I’ve seen this one everywhere, but if you haven’t done it yet then – TAG! – you’re it!

Until next time, happy reading!

i haven’t read the TDA books just yet i enjoyed TMI and LOVED TID i have high hopes for TDA but reading your comment on it made me think again. what did you think about the books?

    1. I loved TID! One of the best trilogies I’ve read! TMI was good but I just couldn’t get into this new series no matter how hard I tried. I found the characters boring and I’m just over the shadow hunters. It feels like the same old thing all over again. I’d be interested in her other books without shadow hunters….. if that ever happens!

  2. This is a challenging book tag! I was trying to think of answers as I read and I was stumped in some places too.

    1. Good to know it wasn’t just me! My brain didn’t have enough power to think of some! 😂

  3. Dolores Umbridge doesn’t appear in Harry Potter and the philosophers stone. She makes her first appearance in the fifth book- Order of the Phoenix.

This was a pretty hard tag. It took me a couple days of contemplation to get most of the answers!

    1. Yes. I’m aware of that. It was just the only picture I had accessible at the moment

Tags are hard!! I couldn’t even come up with Harry Potter as a book children read. To be honest, I ASSUME children nowadays read it still, but I don’t actually know… do they?

Also, i’m quite curious about reading a Nora Roberts novel now… 🙂

    1. Nora Roberts is really good actually. I prefer her trilogies with a paranormal element. The Dark Witch series was my favourite!

Oh there’s that one book we really disagree about. I loved Lady Midnight and I did not enjoy TMI much at all (Still can’t stand Jace or really Clary).
Thank you for mentioning Nora. A formula does not make a book bad. I love her characters and the way she sets up trilogies is amazing. Yes the characters are often similar and yes she is very into the power of 3 but her books are still great reads!!

    1. It still confuses me that we differ so much with the new Clare trilogy! We are so alike in almost every other way but these books.
Formula is, in a way, why I love Nora Roberts. I know what to expect with her and I know that I will love her characters and she will always find a way to surprise me 🙂
