I wanted to do this post sooner but I was planning on going to a signing event so I held off until after that. I’m not sure if it’s just me but I had a hard time reading all of these! I was so afraid that something would happen to the book – either me or the kids would spill something on it (it’s usually my clumsiness and not theirs to be honest). A few are just signed copies and a few are personalized. Either way, they are something special that I will keep safe for always!
These first two books are so very special to me. As you may have already seen, I went to see Elly Blake at her book release event just a couple weekends ago. This is the reason why I was waiting to do this post. She is very special for many reasons! 1 – she writes fantastic fantasy! 2 – she’s the first author I’ve ever met and the only one I’ve gotten to meet twice! 3 – She only lives about an hour from me. We’re practically BFF’s……. ok we aren’t but you know what I mean! Getting Fireblood signed was an amazing experience because I had gotten the ARC from the publisher and had read it before the event. It was so cool to be able to fangirl over the book with the author!!! I hope to go to the release event for the third book and have the entire trilogy personalized!!!
This is another one that is SO very special to me. I went to my first ever book signing this January. My goal this year was to go to a book event and I couldn’t have been more happy to have that goal checked and done in the first month of the year! I drove 3 hours (6 round trip) to get there and it was more than worth it! This is where I met Stephanie Garber and Elly Blake was the host of the event. It was so wonderful to hear what she had to say about writing the book and it totally enriched the experience after reading it!
This one wasn’t intentional. At all. I finished Nevernight a few months ago and loved it so much that I immediately preordered Godsgrave. In my haste to order this book, I didn’t pay attention to the order. I just clicked on it, sent it to the cart, paid, and basked in the glory that this book was coming. Imagine my surprise when on delivery day I open the package and see the circle on the front indicating that it was signed. GASP!!! He has become one of my all time favourite authors and I literally screamed when I opened the book and saw this!!!
These – these. Sigh…… SJM is yet another one of my all time favourite authors. I saw these up for sale through the Chapters Indigo website around Christmas time and my fingers couldn’t click the keys fast enough to order it! But when Empire of Storms came in I was a little worried. The signatures looked so different. But someone pointed out that she had hurt her hand and was wearing a brace. Yup, that would change a signature!
I really hope that there is a book convention near me in the next few years because I would really love that experience. I live in a place that not many authors visit so unless the books are signed and you can have them shipped, that’s the only way I’ll get signed books. These things are my pride and joy! Do you have any signed books??
Until next time, happy reading!
Great post idea! I might have to do something similar. I love getting books signed! I also go out of my way to buy signed ones, too. It just makes them that much more special to me.

Exactly! I’d love to see a signed books post and see which ones you have 🙂

I’ll probably have to split it up into two, but I definitely want to do it soon. 🙂

I only have one signed book and that’s one of an indie author. It’s very dear to me since I completely love the story as well but I’d be so proud to have “bigger” books signed as well, haha. [Bookplates from FairyLoot definitely don’t count when it comes to this..]

Book plates count!! They’re still signed by the author so of course it counts!! 🙂 I got subscription boxes for almost a year and I never once got a book plate 😢
LikeLiked by 1 person
Okay, in a way they count. But I meant it more in a “I can hardly ever make a post like this and use all my FairyLoot-books because those have a book plate with them”-way, haha.
That’s a pity though!

I’ve literally had dreams that he’s my friend and we talk about his writing…… it’s sad 😂 but that’s why this is one of my favourites!

awww, i want to be friends with him too!! 😀 we should start a “we are now the friends of jay kristoff”-club. he has to talk to us then, right? 😀

Lol!!! He will either talk to us or talk to the police as he’s pressing stalking charges 😂😂😂😂😂 if he presses charges I hope there’s a court date…. then we can be in the same room! 😂
Ok took that too far!

Love seeing your collect of signed books, Shanah! To be honest, I don’t have any signed books, but I hope to get some of my favourite ones signed in the future! Here’s to hoping that more authors come to the Toronto area 🙂

There are so many authors that go to the Toronto area and I never find out about it until it’s too late!! It takes me 4 hours to get from SW Ontario to Toronto and the traffic makes me have a panic attack so I would probably never go anyway 😂 Even Kitchener has been getting a lot of book events lately. So there’s hope!

Haha yes traffic :’) That’s good to hear that many authors go to Toronto and Kitchener. I guess I will need to keep a closer eye on it 🙂

I only have one signed book. The Fault in Our Stars. I got it for my birthday several years ago.

Nice! I’ve never seen a signed copy of The Fault in our Stars! I’m not a big John Green fan but that book will forever be one of my favourites!

I have a few signed books, and two of them were authors I met in person on my campus. One is a book of poetry and the other is a horror novel.
I once ordered a book from Thriftbooks and it came in signed! I was shocked!
My old creative writing teacher published a novel this year, and she recently did a book tour stop in my city, but I was away at my sister’s football game and couldn’t go. I was so upset.

Wow that’s an amazing thrift store purchase!!! Awe so sorry you missed your chance to have your teacher sign a book! That would have been so neat to talk to them about it and knowing them on a personal level. Maybe they will write another one and you will have a chance. I’ll cross my fingers for you 🙂

You are lucky to have some in your country. I live in the UK and I must say there are never any book events and I can’t get so many beautiful editions of books either 😭

I’ve been noticing that authors are starting to add the UK to their tour so hopefully sone day soon!
Its funny you say that about the beautiful editions because I usually prefer the UK editions! 😂

I agree that there are more events on then a couple of years ago, so I am hopeful there will be more with every year.
I guess people always miss what they don’t have I agree that a lot of the UK editions are really nice but I would love to have the Barnes and Noble leather bound classics, they seem gorgeous.

Omg the leather bound classics are gorgeous! I have to agree. I live in Canada so I can’t get them either. Unless I want to pay twice the price of the book to ship it….. I don’t like them that much 😆

Wow! Now I have to read Frost Blood Shanah 😉 Same here authors don’t come in my woods lol but I’ll go to my first signing in London in a few months! The few signed books that I own were shipped.

I LOVE SIGNED BOOKS!!! But yeah, the only downfall is if you haven’t read the book and if you end up disliking it… but it’s still so awesome!

AHHHH that’s SO cool, it’s so great that you got signed books like that, you must treasure them ahah 😛 I only own one signed book for the Mara Dyer series, and it’s only because a whole first batch of pre-orders were signed that I was able to get my hands on it.. I love it 😀

This is SUCH a great post idea! I love my signed books and they’re all precious to me. 🙂 I’ve never been able to get them signed in person, and personalized… a lot of them are pre-orders or Indie Bookstore grabs… but still. I love them. And I love your collection!!!

This is so cool! I as of now only have one signed book, but I would love to have more. Meeting authors of books I love is always a dream of mine, but sadly signings rarely happen anywhere near my home!

I also get very protective and nervous around my signed books, I treasure them so much! I loved seeing the books that you have signed and reading the stories that went along with them. (I may have to steal your idea and write a signed book post myself.)

Wow, what a nice collection! I only have two signed books, and I ordered both of them from Book Outlet, so neither of them are personalized. I’ve also never met an author before because there are literally zero book conventions or book signings where I live in Canada 😦

I know what you mean. WHY are there no book conventions in Canada?!! Why!? If there were, all of us Canadians would flock there for sure! Where do you live in Canada? I live in souther Ontario so even anything in Toronto is too far for me
