Happy Tuesday everyone! I’m so excited about the topics for this month! This one, most read authors, is one that I’ve wanted to cover for a very long time. I’m so happy to finally be getting to it! The funny thing about “most read authors” is that the most read doesn’t necessarily mean your favourite!! There are a couple on this list that are in my favourites list, but the majority isn’t even close. The “most read” can just mean that you haven’t gotten to more of your favourites or that they haven’t produced a large amount of books yet. So even though I’ve read a lot of these authors books, it doesn’t mean that they are a favourite of mine. I obviously enjoyed them though or else I wouldn’t have read so many!! This post will be in order, leaving the most read until the last.
Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme where I explore different topics. If you are interested in participating I would love to have you! Here is a list of my Upcoming Topics in October – please remember to ping back a specific post of mine so I get a notification and I will add you to the participants list!
MARISSA MEYER – 7 BOOKS
I don’t know why this one surprised me but I honestly didn’t expect for Marissa Meyer to make it on my list. It doesn’t feel like you’ve read a lot of an author when you’ve only really read one series and a stand alone. But when that series is 4 books long, includes a novella, and then a related graphic number, the numbers add up! This number will reach 8 books soon enough as soon as Renegades is released 🙂
SARAH J MAAS – 9 BOOKS
For some reason it feels like I’ve read way more than 9….. maybe that has to do with the fact that every one of her books is like 900 pages long…. yup that’s the reason! Technically this number will make it to 10 books as soon as I finish Tower of Dawn…….. ok IF I finish Tower of Dawn.
J.K. ROWLING – 10 BOOKS
This was an obvious one and one that I think will be on many peoples lists this week. She also writes under the pen name Robert Galbraith and has the Cormoran Strike series (The Cuckoos Calling, etc.) which I own but haven’t gotten to yet. So if I finish those next year her total will then reach 13 🙂
CASSANDRA CLARE – 10 BOOKS
This one surprised me a bit. I read The Mortal Instruments series so long ago that I have a hard time remembering that I even read it! It was an ok series. I liked it a lot when I was younger but now it’s not really something I enjoy or relate to. The Infernal Devices though – LOVE IT! I also don’t think I’ll continue with the new series. So until she writes something different – as in stop with the shadow hunters because you’ve done it to death – she will stay with 10 books. Sorry that this ended up being a Cassandra Clare rant – us readers are good at unscheduled rants!
NORA ROBERTS – 14 BOOKS
There actually could be more to this but these are the only ones that I remember. She’s not my favourite author at all, but I do really enjoy her books. Even though it sometimes feels as though she’s recycling plots and layouts, it’s her ability to create characters and emotion that draws me in every time. Her books that deal with paranormal elements are the best!
TOP 5 TUESDAY PARTICIPANTS:
- Sarah – Weaving Life
- Anatomy of a Book Thief
- Steph – Lost: Purple Quill
- Erin – A Red Head’s Rambling
- Michael – Michael Mingo’s Blog
- Kyera – Kyera’s Library
- Aletha – Life Should Be Lit
- Lauren – Books Are Only The Beginning
- Rachel – Pace, Amore, Libri
- Chelsea – Spotlight on Stories
- Ryann – Ryann The Reader
- Rebecca – My Life as a Sports Fangirl
- Vanessa – The Bookish Deer
- Sophie – Beware of the Reader
- Marty – The Cursed Books
- Hadeer – Hadeer Writes
- Lizzy – Stellar Kitten Book Reviews
So those are my most read authors. I’m sure that if I do this list again next year the list will have changed completely! Who are your most read authors?
Until next time, happy reading!
Nora Roberts really does write paranormal well! It has been awhile since I have read a book of hers but I always enjoy them!

Great post! I must head over to Goodreads and check out my shelves to find out!

My most read author is M. C. Beaton who writes cosy mysteries set in England. I’m really surprised I’ve read 20 of her books as it’s quite a while ago now and I’d forgotten I’d read so many lol

20?! Wow that’s a lot of books by one author!

It was binge reading quite a few years ago with a friend. They were enjoyable short reads at the time but I’m not sure I’d re-read them.

Dang it! I had to go back and edit my post to add Meyer. I also started thinking about books I read in Elementary school and was tempted to add the Magic Tree House author, at the very least but I stopped myself because I already had a top 5 plus one throwback. Other than your romantic Roberts reads (she’s romance right? I’ve never read her books before…) we have the same authors haha.

Yes Nora Roberts is mainly romance. She writes about a lot of different topics (crime, mystery, paranormal, etc) but they all have a strong romantic theme intertwined

Fab list! I’ve read the Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare but not The Infernal Devices but I might have to try and give it a go sometime soon now! 🙂

Oh I hope you do! It’s the only series/book where the love triangle was actually done well! I’m very emotionally attached to that series!

I jump around so much, I’m not sure I’d be able to fill a top 5. Obviously, Rowling. And Robert Jordan for the Wheel of Time series. Stephen King. And then I’d probably be into authors that I’ve only read 3 and 4 of.

I’ve only read 3 king books. Trying to remedy that now. But I’m honestly not sure I can push through It before Halloween!

I can’t think how many I’ve read. I always think I’ve only read a few until I start running down the list. I think it’s 8, if you count the book he wrote about writing.

The one about writing counts! Have you read Pet Semetary? That’s the one I think I might pick up next

Yeah. I found it very, very disappointing. If you want more King, I would say for The Gunslinger. It’s kind of tough to get through, but the one that follows, The Drawing of the Three, is SO good.

Disappointing?! ☹️ I figured with a name like Pet Semetery it would have been scary and wonderful. Oh well. Cross it off the list lol

That’s only my personal opinion. You might absolutely love it.
P.S. I just ordered a copy of Nevernight

There are still a few books ahead of it, but maybe by year’s end…

I did mine a little differently: I organized it by times in my life. Like the book I had read to me the most, elementary school, middle school, high school, and college. I didn’t count the ones who books I’ve read more of, but rather the one I’ve read and reread the most. I’m sure I’m forgetting a couple, but I think I’ve gotten the important ones down.

I really like how you organized your list! I love setting up a topic and seeing how other interpret it 🙂 fantastic post!

After going an actually looking at my GoodReads list, I’m going to have to go back and edit it 😛 Leave the original categories the way they are, but add in the actual most-read authors to the end. I completely forgot about a lot of series authors… Whoops.

Lol it happens! Series authors took up way more of my list than I expected as well!

I COMPLETELY forgot about Lilian Jackson Braun. I’ve read EVERY ONE of her books. That’s 32! And then Erin Hunter’s Warriors series! That’s 30! I completely spaced on two of the people I’ve read over thirty books of!

Wow!!! That’s crazy! And quite an accomplishment!

JK Rowling and Cassandra Clare are two of my most read authors as well! I really want to get round to reading Sarah J Mass’ books, I have Throne of Glass and ACOTAR on my shelf waiting to be read! Great post 🙂

I really hope you love Throne of Glass and ACOTAR when you get to them! They’re some of my favourites!

We share J.K. Rowling and S.J Maas, but other than that, mine is completely different! I’ve heard really good things about The Lunar Chronicles, but haven’t actually picked them up yet for some reason.

It’s probably the red shoe on the cover of Cinder lol. That’s the reason why I didn’t want to touch Marissa Meyer’s series. But don’t let the shoe fool you – the series is FANTASTIC!!!!

Haha I’ll have to move it up on my TBR!

Oh this is such an interesting topic, makes me think of my most-read authors as well. It’s so weird how some authors ended up on your list, all because of series. It doesn’t feel like you’ve read too much from the author when it’s a series, right? 🙂 I can’t wait for Renegades to be released though, I’m eager to read more from Marissa Meyer 🙂
LikeLiked by 1 person
It is really weird that when there’s a large series you don’t realize how many books you’ve read. It sometimes feels like one long (long) book!
Renegades is one of my most anticipated. I tried to get an ARC but they were all gone – and fast!

Crazy!!! I love that you posted the amount of books (although I feel like I would have an embarrassing high number of my top two authors!) I also have read Marissa Meyer’s but I haven’t finished all of them so she is only at four for me! I enjoyed that series a lot though!

Only Clare that I haven’t read! She’s on my list though!

Great list! I have so many authors that I should read off your list, like Marissa Meyer. Everyone has been recommending her books to me and I feel like I should totally read them since I love retellings. Anyway, like I said before, lovely and very creative idea! ❤

I assumed I wasn’t going to like Marissa Meyer and I assumed wrong. She’s great at retellings!

I am definitely on the train from number 1 to 4!!! I sooo love those authors, especially CC! Though I haven’t read any book by Nora Roberts yet! Great post!

I read Cinder once but it was okay to me; not really special. I’m reading Heartless now. I’m on the 12th page but at least, I’m not rolling my eyes yet. I’ve read all Sarah J. Maas’s books too and nearly all J.K. Rowling’s books. I disliked Cassandra Clare for a really long time in my life because I hated the mortal instruments books. It always got me so angry that it was and still is overhyped. As for Nora Roberts, her characters are all the same and like you said, her plots seem recycled. Her trilogies seem to be the same books with slight changes.
