Elly Blake book release event!

My bookish goal this year was to go to a book related event. I was lucky enough to take a trip to Michigan in January for the Stephanie Garber tour for the book Caraval. I drove 3 hours (6 round trip), and crossed from Canada to the US to get there but it was SO worth it! Elly Blake, author of Frostblood which was released around the same time, was also there and that’s when I learned that she lives about an hour away from me! I couldn’t have been more excited! Naturally when book 2 of the Frostblood saga was released I searched for a book release event – and here it is! It was even more exciting this time because my mom came along for her first signing!

Now, while I was there, two amazing things happened:

  1. She remembered me! Either from the last signing or from talking to her on Twitter!
  2. I finally got to fangirl over a specific character in the book – and it was with the author!

Elly is such a sweet and wonderful person. She also totally made me cry when she was thanking her mom and talked about how she used to read to them as kids. I can cry if someone else is crying and it was so close to happening! After that she did a reading of a few pages of the book. She read them aloud flawlessly which is something I could never do. If I read out loud I stutter all over the place! My mouth and mind are rarely on the same page! I didn’t take that many pictures but here are a few:

It looks like book three to this series will be released in June of next year so I’ll have to attend another signing so I can have the whole series personalized! Thanks again Elly! Now that I’ve gone to my last event I can do the signed books post I’ve been wanting to do. Look for that soon!

Until next time, happy reading!

    1. I know the feeling. Authors never come near me so I live through others who live in big cities and get to go to them all the time! I was just lucky enough to live near this author 😂

    1. So funny thing – I thought of you when I was getting the picture taken. I wasn’t holding the book up at first and then I remembered your pictures and held it up at the last second 😂
