Kids are back in school!!!! And if you’re wondering if I did a happy dance in the front yard as they walked to the bus, then yes, yes I did!! Both kids are happy with their classes, made some new friends and are ok with being split into two different schools. My daughter is in grade 7 now so she’s now at the high school in the new junior high program. I was nervous about it but she’s enjoying it and enjoying some of the new found freedom. My son is in grade 2 and is starting off the year more excited than ever. I am so proud of these kids – Every. Single. Day! And since they’ve been back in school I had the most productive work week which then allowed me to read more at night because I wasn’t catching up on work! It’s been a great week all around!!!
BOOKS I’VE FINISHED THIS WEEK:
GODSGRAVE by Jay Kristoff <—– (full review)
OMG this book was so good! I’ve found myself completely in love with Jay Kristof’s writing and humour. As I said in the review, I finished off the last 50 pages or so with my mouth wide open. Everything I thought I knew or assumed was thrown into a tornado and crashed back down in a chaotic pile. Book 3 is going to feel like it’s going to take forever!!
BOOKS I’M CURRENTLY READING:
New Queen Maas!! I was so excited…. until I started it. I just can’t get into this story! I don’t know if it’s just that it’s been so long since I’ve been a part of this story/world or what. It also starts off incredibly info dumpy as it introduces us to a new place and new people. I won’t give up on it but I did decide to limit the time I spend on it so that I don’t push myself and enjoy it less.
So that brought me to reading the first chapter of Zodiac……. and after reading the first chapter I was so hooked and immersed into this story I couldn’t put the book down! My god, it’s been quite a while since I’ve started a story and was so obsessed with it only a few pages in. So thank you SOOOOO much to Melanie @ MN Bernard Books and Krysti @ YA and Wine for mentioning this book to me and telling me how amazing it is!

NEW FEATURE POST
I’ve been thinking of ideas to post over the fall/winter months to keep things fresh and one of the ideas that I came up with was a series of If you like this then…. you’ll like this recommendation posts! I’ve been wanting to do this for a while and I finally sat down and started putting a list together. It seemed to go over well so I think I will continue!
I CREATED A BOOK TAG!
Once again, something I’ve wanted to do for a while and finally got around to it! See – kids go back to school and I get productive!! I created the Fall Book Tag – if you want to check it out and do the tag then feel free! Consider yourself tagged!
BLOGGER SPOTLIGHT
As always, one of my favourite features is the Blogger Spotlight – here are 5 more blogs that I love and that you should be following!!!
I hope you all had a really great week! And I hope that things continue for me so that I can maybe put up more than one review next week! We shall see!
Until next time, happy reading!
When my daughter was younger, I was a teacher, so alas, no happy dance at the beginning of the school year as I went from having to entertain one (really easy kid) to 150 surly teenagers. Glad to hear your children are happy though. I think the beginning of the year is a foreshadowing for the entire year. I will have to wait for Tower of Dawn (though raves are all I hear). I will borrow it from my co-blogger who went to the event in NC. Have a great week!

Teachers are super special people – it’s a job I know I don’t have the patience for!
I’ve been hearing great things about Tower of Dawn and those rave reviews are what’s pushing me to keep going. But there are just SO many characters to keep straight and so much World and plot building in the beginning!! I know I’ll fall in love eventually 🙂

That’s such a bummer about the Maas book. I haven’t started that series yet, but I keep seeing a lot of mixed reviews for this book. Zodiac, on the other hand, I’ve heard is fantastic.

I LOVE Sarah J Maas! I can see why people don’t like it or relate to it but I love her books!

YASSSS for back to school awesomeness!!! glad to hear your little ones had a successful return 😄 🙌🏼my 6 year old started 1st grade on Thursday & it’s def a great thing to have some free time. My hubby just picked me up a copy of Tower of Dawn since he’s also reading it but I’ve been reading so many mixed reviews that now I’m hesitant to start it lol. I’ve heard only great things about Zodiac & actually own the first 2 books smh 🙈for the past year! time to give them some love haha! Happy reading 💙

Yes! Give them some love!!!! Zodiac is so complex so far but it’s written well and not confusing. I’m slightly obsessed with it! Hope your little one is doing well in first grade!

Soooo…I finished Tower of Dawn, and I really didn’t like it. I’m such a fan of that series, but that book was kind of boring. 😦 I’m kind of glad to hear you’re struggling with it too. I’m seeing rave reviews about it, and I’m baffled by them. LOL. On a positive note, I’m so glad you’re liking Zodiac!!! Woohoo!!!

You are the first person to say they struggled! This makes me feel better. I keep hoping it will pick up but not so far. I’m only 100 pages in. I’m half way through Zodiac and it’s incredible!!!

I had the hardest time! It was so slow, and Chaol is just awful. Not a fan. But YAY Zodiac!!! 😁
