I was doing some blog hopping yesterday and saw a bunch of monthly wrap up posts. I thought it was strange that so many people were posting their wrap up’s so early…. until I looked at the calendar on my phone and realized that it’s no longer the middle of the month! Summer is just so full of chaos, work, late nights, and everything else that I just lose track of days! I finished 6 books this month which I couldn’t be happier with. I didn’t think I would finish more than 4 so this is a good number. August will be more of the same and then I can hopefully pick up my reading speed for my last push at the end of the year. Before I get into the wrap up, I made a new graphic for my monthly wrap up! I’m happy with it one minute, and then not happy the next. Maybe it will grow on me. Anyways, on with the books!

Arrow

Daughter of smoke and bone

DAUGHTER OF SMOKE AND BONE by Laini Taylor (<—– full review) 4.5 stars
I held off on reading this for the longest time. I read the synopsis a few years ago and there was something about it that didn’t grab my attention. Then I picked up Strange the Dreamer and fell in love with her writing so I immediately picked up this series. It still sat unread for a while but i’m glad I got to it eventually. It was so unique!

Days of blood and starlight

DAYS OF BLOOD AND STARLIGHT by Laini Taylor (<—– full review) 3.25 stars
Yeah, well. I don’t know what happened. The first book in the series was stellar. The characters were feisty and strong, the plot and setting was like nothing I’ve read before. And then it seems that all the things I loved most about book one fell away and this one lost a bit of it’s spark. I still enjoyed this, and plan on reading book 3, but I needed to take a bit of a break from this series after this one.

My best friends exorcism

MY BEST FRIENDS EXORCISM by Grady Hendrix (<—– full review) 4.5 stars
EEEEKKKK!! This book was everything! The cover is my obsession and I really hoped that the inside would match the outside – and it did! This book was wonderful! It was creepy, funny, cheesy, gross, suspenseful, and so much more! It brought me back to the 80’s through song titles and references, and just the general vibe was like that of a cheesy 80’s horror flick. Go read it!

Eliza and her monsters

ELIZA AND HER MONSTERS by Francesca Zappia (<—– full review) 4 stars
This book was such a pleasant surprise. I didn’t plan on picking this one up but the reviews of every blogger convince me that I needed to. It was such a quick cute read! I did wish I had more of the Monstrous Sea comic to relate to, but the story itself was adorable!

Nimona

NIMONA by Noelle Stevenson (<—– full review) 4.5 stars
This one was a reread for BookTube A Thon and I actually enjoyed this one more the second time around! It’s just so fun and playful with Nimona and her shapeshifting abilities, and the grey area between good and evil. The illustrations were great which made it even easier to enjoy!

Armada

ARMADA by Ernest Cline
I finished this one late last night and will be posting my review tomorrow. I read Ready Player One a year or two ago and enjoyed it WAY more than I expected to. This one was great, but didn’t quite reach the heights that Ready Player One did. Check out my thoughts and rating tomorrow!

Arrow

What was your favourite read this month?? I would have to say that mine is My Best Friends Exorcism 🙂

Until next time, happy reading!
