Books I want to see as movies!!

Hello, Hollywood? Are you listening? Well you should be! I’m no movie expert but I do have a vivid imagination while I’m reading and I happen to think these books would do very well on screen! I’m not saying that I won’t shame you if you mess it up, but I’ll pay the admission at least once. Not convincing? I agree! LOL But maybe take a second look at these anyway 🙂

THE NIGHT CIRCUS by Erin Morgenstern

THIS!!! Her writing was flawless – I’ve never said that about an author before (ok maybe J.K.R.) but it’s so true in this case. I can visualize everything from beginning to end and it’s so strange, weird, beautiful, intense, and everything in between. I want to see the clock in motion, the tents, the displays, and the magic. This needs to happen!!

THE ILLUMINAE FILES by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman

I think I would faint from excitement if these books ever came to the big screen!! The format of this book makes it so easy to transfer to a movie – it is set out like a case file in the sequence of the events, and from different perspectives and locations. The books were action packed and would be so interesting to watch!

DARK MATTER by Blake Crouch

This one might be difficult, but if done well, this could have a huge chance to make an impact! So many opportunities to visualize the world in so many different ways. But most of all, what would make this movie unique, is it would give the actors and actresses a chance to be completely different people throughout the movie. Don’t know what I’m talking about? GO READ IT!!

A HEAD FULL OF GHOSTS by Paul Tremblay

Horror movie makers – here’s your chance! I read this one so long ago but I still think of it quite often and wonder what was real and what wasn’t. This one had so many unexpected twists and turns. There was also a change in timeline that amplified my confusion. I would watch this one on repeat!!!!!

I have a few more that I want to add to the list but I think that I will do a continuation of this post every few months as I find books I’ve loved and wish I could visualize.

Before doing this post, I checked to see if any of these books were listed on the IMDB web site. Believe it or not, all of them were listed but there weren’t any dates, pictures, actors, or crew associated with it. If I’m not mistaken, that happens when the rights to a movie have been purchased but nothing has officially started yet. So I guess that means that there’s a chance?!?! I can hope!

Is there a book that you would really love to see as a movie?

Until next time, happy reading!

Oh my gosh, the Night Circus would make a gorgeous movie! The Illuminae Files would make a fantastic sci-fi movie. They already play out like a movie in my head. Yes, please. I haven’t read the other two, but I’m sure they’d be great as well!

    1. I know! Dark Matter would be a hard one to do (so many main characters if you know what I mean!) i don’t know how they would do it, but it would be incredible!!

  3. Haha, I agree with all of these! All of them are my favorites! ❤ It low-key bothers me that every single book to movie/TV adaptation I enjoy is stuck in development while books I hate or haven’t read yet get their adaptations within months. 😂 So far, Simon Vs is the only one I’m looking forward to!

    1. I sometimes wonder what would happen if they asked book lovers for advice with adaptations. It would work so much better I bet. Tim Burton might do this one justice

I would love to see The Night Circus as a film!! I’ve heard Illuminae is amazing and I have the books so without even reading them yet I think they’d make for some pretty cool movies! Great post!

  8. The Night Circus would be such a good film if it was done right! Until that happens, I’d suggest watching The Prestige, which is a film I often thought about during the first few chapters of The Night Circus. I think it’s a great film based off of Christopher Priest’s book so if you haven’t seen it, definitely do! It’s a little mind boggling in the best way.

Warner Bros. and Brad Pitt were actually planning on making an Illuminae film. They have the rights to it, but I haven’t seen any further development since the original announcement back in 2015-ish.

I would love a Night Circus movie. I used to be obsessed with that book.
