June Wrap Up

There June went – done and gone! That went WAY too fast. It’s the last month the kids are in school so my sanity went along with it. My husband and I run two businesses from our house so we are home with the kids working every day and it is STRESSFUL! Knowing that I need to work and be a mother at the same time is a constant struggle. But we make it work! July is a super busy month. My daughter turns 12, we have events planned, and so much more. I’m not hopeful that I’ll get much reading done but it is what it is! I managed to read 7 books this month, most of which were sadly 3 star reviews. That’s an ok number but I was hoping for more. Here’s what I read this month:

THE OBSESSION by Nora Roberts <—– (Full review) 3.75 stars
It’s been quite a long time since I’ve read a Nora Roberts book and it was really nice to step back into her characters! This is a prime example of how well this woman can develop her characters. The story was good but missed a few things I was hoping for.

THE UNLIKELIES by Carrie Firestone <—– (Full review) 3.5 stars
This was a really good summer time read! An unlikely group of friends who are known for being hero’s comes together to try and help others. I loved the friendship aspect of the whole thing. I also loved that this book covered some pretty hard topics. But I felt that I was a little too old to relate to this one the way that I wanted to.

HOLD BACK THE STARS by Katie Khan <—– (Full review) 3.5 stars
This book was such a surprise! The plot was incredibly unique and the authors ability to fluidly move back and forth between the past and the present was just outstanding! Even though I felt this one wasn’t as developed as well as it could have been, it’s a story that made me think long after I read it. And that ending!!!

CLAIMING ADDISON by Zoey Derrick <—– (Full review) 4 stars
This one was a bit of a surprise! I’m not a big fan of this genre. I find that erotic romance novels are heavy on the relationships and weak on the story. This one was interesting on both parts! Something new to reset my reading brain and I really enjoyed it!

THE SPACE BETWEEN THE STARS by Anne Corlett <—– (Full review) 4 stars
Such a great story of survival in the face of impossible odds and the human connection. Each and every person was so different and so were their thoughts of what was the right thing to do. This one was very character driven and one that you just need to feel. I think that each person will get something different out of this one!

FEEL ME FALL by James Morris <—– (Full review) 4 stars
Oooohhh this one gave me the chills! I went into it expecting to get a survival story of a group of teens after their plane crashed in the Amazon. Yes, I got that, but I also got thrown on an unexpected adventure of twists, turns, and thrills! Very unexpected but so amazing! Still thinking of all the plot twists! They blew my mind!

THE SANDCASTLE EMPIRE by Kayla Olson <—– (Full review) 3 stars
I had anticipated this one for so long and I was disappointed with the depth of this story. I wanted more details and information! I missed all the details of why things were happening and how. But the setting of the sanctuary island were so well done and absolutely insane! There’s talk of this becoming a movie and I think it will do very well on screen! I didn’t hate it, it just didn’t live up to my expectations.
