May wrap up!

Where did this month go? Honestly, this was a month full of so much chaos that I barely remember what happened! I finished reading 7 books, which is my slowest month of the year so far. It was to be expected as the nicer weather means I go crazy. So I’m actually quite happy with 7! The kids get done school at the end of June so I’m trying to get things caught up before that happens. We work from home and it’s very hard when the kids are home all the time, so being prepared is the key to everyones happiness! Without further ado, here’s the books I read in May!

Arrow

ACOWAR

A Court of Wings and Ruin <—– (full review)

My #1 most anticipated read of the year!! I loved it just as much as I expected to. Though I did have some questions still left unanswered, I know that there’s more coming to this world through a spin off series and possibly novella’s! Hopefully I’ll feel like this story is complete after reading those!

Across the universe

Across the Universe <—– (full review)

This one was an ok read for me but it didn’t quite live up to my expectations. For some reason I felt a little detached from the story and didn’t relate to the characters as much as I would have liked. But it was still an interesting read and – sci-fi!! I’m all about that!

The hate you give

The Hate You Give <—– (full review)

This one will most definitely be on my list of favourite books of 2017!! I didn’t want to read it because the hype was so strong, but I gave in and WOW! This book deserves all the hype it’s getting and more! It was one of the most socially relevant books I’ve ever read with characters I absolutely enjoyed. This book explored this situation from every angle perfectly. If you haven’t read this book yet – please do ASAP!!

Starflight

Starflight <—– (full review)

This book was an absolute joy! It was filled with so much adventure and rekindled my love of reading for fun. There was space pirates, daring escapes, criminal convictions, secrets, and so much more!! I want to read the sequel Starfall so badly but I have a few others that I need to get to first. Hopefully soon!

Saga vol 7

Saga volume 7 <—– (full review)

Graphic novels aren’t something that I read a lot of, but this series is the exception! What I wasn’t expecting is for this one to be so emotional. It was a little slower than the rest of the volumes as far as action goes, but the emotions more than made up for it!

Flame in the mist

Flame in the Mist <—– (full review)

Yet another highly anticipated book and sadly I was really disappointed. This wasn’t a bad book by any means, but I couldn’t connect with it at all and struggled the whole way through. I just felt like it was missing something and ended up having some problems with it that I just couldn’t get past.

When Dimple met Rishi

When Dimple Met Rishi <—– (full review)

I had been anticipating this one for the longest time and I was so happy that it didn’t disappoint! Such a joy to read with great characters and a super sappy plot. I’ve had quite the run on really great YA contemporary reads lately and this is one of the top!

Arrow

So that’s what I read in May! Like I said, I read a little less than I usually do, but what I did read I REALLY enjoyed so I’m fine with that! What did you read in May that you loved?

Until next time, happy reading!

‘Starflight’ sounds really great. I always love movies with pirates or space pirates, but this made me realize that I haven’t read a book about them (in a long time). And everyone seems to love ‘The Hate U Give’ and it sounds like a very important read, so I want to read it even more now.

    1. Flame in the Mist wasn’t a bad book by any means. I just found i didn’t relate to it like I wanted to. I hope you enjoy it more than I did! And I still can’t get ACOWAR out of my head! Feeling a bit slumpy with fantasy lately 😢

  13. Seven books is good enough! Especially if you enjoyed the reads 😀 I’m glad A Court of Wings and Ruin met your expectations 🙂 It’s such a disappointment when your most anticipated read is a letdown! It happened to me with The Fire Child!

    1. I just read the synopsis for The Fire Child and it sounded like it had potential to be really good. You’re right. It’s disappointing when you wait so long for it to come out and then it’s not what you expected!

      1. I had loved the first book from the author, The Ice Twins, so I had high hopes…
