Weekly Wrap up May 14 – 20

This was such a refreshing week for reading! I seemed to have taken a much needed break from complicated heavy novels – I didn’t know how much I needed that!! I finished one book and one graphic novel and they were both so entertaining!! They made me reevaluate what it is that I’m looking for in books right now which made me very excited for the long list of fantastic reads I have planned for the next few months. But before I get to those, here’s a look at what happened this week:

BOOKS I FINISHED THIS WEEK:

STARFLIGHT

SAGA Volume 7

CURRENTLY READING:

Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh. This is one i’ve been anticipating for probably close to a year now. I went out and picked up the hardcover on the day of it’s release and started reading it that night……… well, it took me about 3 days to get past the first 30 pages!!! I’m not sure if anyone else experienced this when starting this book but it honestly felt like torture!! I couldn’t connect with the story or the characters and just felt so confused. The information was thrown at you in an unapologetic way yet I was still so confused! And the writing felt so harsh and short – nothing like the flowing beautiful writing I was drawn to with the Wrath and the Dawn series. I FINALLY made it past the 100 page mark yesterday and it’s picked up quite a bit. I’m starting to fall into the story now and feeling a bit more drawn into the characters. I’m sure that my opinion of this one will change in the long run but for now I’m undecided!

OTHER BOOKISH NEWS:

IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY!

On the 16th I turned yet another year older. According to my son he thinks I’m 23……. hey I’ll take it! But to commemorate the day I did the BIRTHDAY BOOK TAG which was created by Antonia *always books* over on the app Books Amino. It was so much fun to do!

This weeks topic was such a fun list to create! I made a top 10 list of my TOP 10 FAVOURITE BOOK SERIES – I was going to try to aim for 5 but really, can you just pick 5 favourite series!? It was too hard! Are some of your favourites on this list??

SPEAKING OF LISTS…..

I did a post highlighting my SUMMERTIME READING LIST! There are so many options and I know I’ll read more than these, but this list has the ones that I’m most excited to get to. In that post I also announced my plans for a new blog feature!! It’s going to be called TBR Thursday and I will be listing the books I plan to read in many different genres. More details will be coming this Thursday 🙂

CUTENESS OVERLOAD!

It wasn’t only a great reading week for me, but for my kids as well!! I was so happy when my 7 year old boy came home and snuggled into the couch and read a book instead of playing games on the iPad! Here’s a look at my proud mom moment
