Top 5 Bookworm Problems – part two!

Last week I started a two part post talking about problems only other book worms would understand. I wanted to do it all in one post but narrowing it down to 5 was impossible. Last week was PART ONE and here is part two!

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme where I explore different topics. If you are interested in doing my topic on your blog feel free! Also you can use this graphic, just link my site 🙂

Top 5 Tuesday

JUST ONE MORE CHAPTER SYNDROME

I am seriously the worst with this! If I know that I should be going to bed at 11:00 I will keep repeating “just one more chapter” until it’s about 12:30. I literally do it every day. That’s probably why I’m so freaking tired every day! Which brings me to my next bookworm problem….

READING UNTIL 3AM AND STILL HAVING TO ADULT THE NEXT DAY

This one is rare for me. I push my limits every night with the just one one chapter mantra, but for me to push it hours past my bed time is rare. But sometimes you find that one book that pulls you in so far you lose all track of time. You HAVE to know what happens right this second and your life will remain on hold until that happens. If the book was great them I’m still on an adrenaline rush from its amazing-ness, so the next day is bearable. But if the book is bad then the next day feels like torture! It’s almost time for the release of A Court of Wings and Ruin so I have a feeling this particular problem will be happing soon!

ORDERING A BOOK ONLINE AND HAVING TO WAIT FOR IT TO COME IN

Due to the fact that I live in a small town and we don’t have a book store, I do most of my shopping online. Also online prices are much cheaper. Cheaper prices means more books for my money! But when a book is released on a certain day and I have to wait for it to be mailed to me – I become an obsessive monster. I refresh the tracking number numerous times a day, knowing full well that it hasn’t moved. I follow reviews from those that actually got their book on time. And I may have stalked the mail man a few times…. in fact he expects it. Our mail man is a friend of ours and knows my lack of patience!

FINDING THE BOOK YOU’RE DYING TO READ BUT IT’S ONLY IN THE MOVIE COVER EDITION

This aggravates me to no end! I’m happy that the book is being turned into a movie – I really am. But as a book lover I need to keep the two separate. 99% of the time the movie never lives up to the book so I don’t need to be reminded of that fact. I want to read the book because of the book – not because it was turned into a movie!

READING THE FIRST BOOK IN A SERIES BUT HAVING TO WAIT A YEAR FOR THE NEXT ONE TO BE RELEASED

This one is entirely selfish. I know that books can’t be written overnight but that doesn’t change the fact that I need to know what happens!! The other problem is that I read so many books throughout that year that I sometimes forget what happened. So when the book is finally released it takes me a while to get back into the story. I also hate it when I read the first book in a series but you’re too broke to buy book two! It’s so close but it’s so far away!

That’s is for the Bookworm Problems series…. for now. I’m sure I can think of more! Do you have anything that you would add to this list?

If you want to participate in future Top 5 Tuesday topics, here is a list of my upcoming topics including the dates. I can’t wait to see some different answers!!

Until next time, happy reading!

Ugh. So true. I can relate to each and every one. I don’t get time to read much during the day, it’s after 12 am, so yeah it’s kind of a daily struggle for me. And recently, I have started binge reading, not every time but I wait for the series to complete before I binge read it at once. Weird. I know. But I do it sometimes.
    Anyway, great post!

    1. Binge reading series isn’t weird at all! I do it all the time lol I did that with the Throne of Glass series, the Lunar Chronicles and a few more. It worries me though – I wait so long for an entire series to come out, and buy them ALL without knowing if I like them! LOL But let’s be honest – who wants to have to wait for the sequel??

I have developed that habit as well! And exactly!! It’s literally painful to wait for a sequel.

    1. I’m going to be experiencing this with the last book in the Ember in the Ashes series…. It will slowly drive me insane!

  4. Haha, that wait for the mail to arrive is truly painful! But there’s really nothing better than opening your mail box and having a book package, even if all I do is open it and put it on my shelf lol.

    1. LOL I was just thinking that! I have a package being delivered as we speak and I know I won’t be reading them for at least a couple of weeks. But I’m excited anyways lol

  5. Ohhhh yes, who can’t relate to ALL OF THESE?!?!!
I am always that person that tells herself “Just one more chapter” and if it’s a book that is particularly good, I pretty much won’t stop until I’m through with it! 😀
And the last point is soooo ME. All the time. I’m the most impatient person EVER and I just want all the books to be released immediately! It’s the worst thing but I can’t really help it 😀

I feel you on the “just one chapter thing.” I can never do it. Not to mention that I have a thing where if I start a chapter, I have to finish it before I put the book down. XD

    1. LOL YES! I can’t just stop reading in the middle of a chapter – I have to finish it. But then something happens at the end of that chapter and I have to know what happens so I read just one more chapter……. then the cycle continues lol

  7. Totally! Haha! It’s a dangerous game to play just one more chapter, but it has to happen 😀 Definitely hard to adult the next day after it. Great list!

    1. Yikes really? Ordering online is so much cheaper in Canada. It can be anywhere from 1-20$ more expensive to buy in a store here. It’s awful

Omgosh, YES to all of this!! I am constantly falling asleep with a book on my face, and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been late to work because I’m just going to read one or two more pages before I leave the house in the morning.

I laughed outloud at the one about only being able to find the edition with the tv or movie cover art, as I recently overheard a conversation at a local bookstore that the customer was ordering Harry Potter hardcovers, and the clerk asked her which cover art did she want because they could order her the original Scholastic cover art if she wanted. it warmed my heart!

    1. As much as I love the new Harry Potter covers, the original Scholastic covers will always be my favourite!

  11. These are SO TRUE. Serious bookworm problems. I am so impatient when it comes to waiting for books to come out, like I expect to have them all now. Why should I have to wait to see what happens to my favorite character??

    1. It’s so irritating!!! I do like when books are turned into a movie but then I rip it apart and compare to the book. Every time! Even if the movie is done well I want nothing to do with it when it comes to my books!

  15. Oh, and I hate it when there’s only the movie version cover ‘cuz they’re usually not as pretty and just not ‘book-like’, y’know?

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Exactly! And the movie is never as good as the book (well maybe in a few cases they’re equal). I just don’t want the two to be associated. I found a book the other day that I’ve wanted for a while but it was only in the movie cover….. I could have bought it brand new for about 5$….. but I walked away. I just can’t do it!
